The George Steinbrenner Memorial Maritime Scholarship (Collegiate) was established in 2015. The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to graduates of the “Maritime Technology” program in Hillsborough County Public Schools.  The George Steinbrenner Memorial Maritime Scholarship (Collegiate) assists individuals enrolling for post-secondary education leading to a career in the Maritime Industry, including, but not limited to two or four year academic programs at maritime academies, colleges or universities.

COLLEGIATE SCHOLARSHIP TIMELINE
  • New collegiate applications are due in March.
  • Candidates will be notified by phone or by e-mail by in May regarding the status of their application.
  • The scholarships are dependent on grades. All students need to have their 2nd half scholastic transcripts turned into the the Committee by June
  • Renewal collegiate applications are due in April 
  • Candidates will be notified by phone or by e-mail in May regarding the status of their application.

TECHNICAL

The George Steinbrenner Memorial Maritime Scholarship (Technical) was established in 2015 . The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to graduates of the “Maritime Technology” program in Hillsborough County Public Schools. The George Steinbrenner  Memorial Maritime Scholarship (Technical) targets individuals enrolling for technical training leading to a career in the Maritime Industry. These career paths include, but are not limited to: welding, pipe fitting, machinery, and electrical trades, marine joinery, industrial hygiene and safety, port and terminal operations, marine agency, logistics, seagoing apprenticeship, etc. In short, eligibility is open to persons who intend to pursue any of the widely varied opportunities within  or related to the maritime industry.

TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP TIMELINE

Each year an announcement is made in February opening the application process. Applications will be accepted until the deadline.

  • The deadline for the Technical Scholarship is two months before the chosen school will begin.
  • Candidates will be notified by phone or by e-mail regarding the status of their application.
